back to bussiness

Hello everybody!!!  How are you all in this not so new year? I'm so sorry it's been so long since I last posted, suddenly too many things were happening at the same time in my life, and I had to sacrifice computer time. Not bad things, don't worry, just too many little things that left me with less time to play with you, but oh, how I've missed you!!

But now it's time to go back to bussiness. Have you pop over to SIBOL yet? Wow, things are going really fast over there! Sue's set up a new blog  where you can find all the information about the new challenges for this year here's the link. Go have a look, it's really worth it!

So, what I've been up to lately in crochet terms?  Well, I've been quite children-focused, probably due to the Christmas spirits. I made this crochet version of the Twister, do you remember that game? I loved it and I remember having a great time playing with it, so when I saw a crocheted version of it on the web, I thought of making one for my nephews. I did it and gave it to them for Christmas. Quite fun altogether!

I made a rug of 4x4 squares  in a thick yarn, and then two cubes, one with the colours and the other one with the hands and feet.

The hands and feet are made of felt and then attached to the cubes.

We had a go  at playing, but only with the older boy, the three year old one had another plan, hehe!!!

I haven't done much more than that, a couple of scarves that were given away before I could take photos, and little more. I'm working in a doily for my mum now and in a blanket for hubbie, I'll post photos soon. Now, I hope I'll have  a bit more time for the computer now, I really like to share with you all!
Thanks for visiting and see you around!

time flies!

I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted! I've been so busy at work I haven't had time to play with you! Somehow I managed to put up the Christmas tree and some other decorations though!

it's a brand new tree, and it's white and I love it!

This is the tree skirt I've made for it. They are 5 african flowers in christmassy colours. Notice they have only five sides instead of six!
I've mixed the ornaments, some are bought, some are made by me. This little snowman is my creation.

little angel:  bought, ball with buttons: made by me

Pattern for the candy canes here

                                                    Lovely Santa bought by hubbie!

Some more little Santas and an african flower little ornament!

There are these two big mirrors in one corner of the living room. I wanted to decorate them somehow, but don't like that artificial snow, it's too messy, so I've put some of that jelly decorations you stick to the mirror. Clean, cheerful and nice!

And finally, let me introduce you to these little fellows. The two at the back we've had them for years now, they were presents, and have been our only Christmas decorations until a couple of years ago. The little Santa I made it a couple of weeks ago, and now they hung around together!!
Happy times are coming, enjoy it with all your loved ones! Thanks for visiting and see you  around!

It's Christmas time!!

Well, almost! I'm already making little decorations for Christmas, even though I'm not sure what colours I'm going to use this year!

                                                     Some Santa Stockings....

Some more little Santa Sockings... hehe...

And some of these fantastic patterns found here.

I sewed some felt at the back to make them a bit more rigid, so they don't loose the shape when hung.

And look what I made! some little snowmen! Aren't they cute?

Finished Babette!

I finally did it! Finished completely my Babette! It's called Circus, first time ever I name a blanket, but this one just claimed for a name, for That name. Here it is:

The smallest squares look a bit bulky, I should have blocked the squares before joining them, I'll have to remember that for the next one!

Detail of the border.

Playing!

My babette is not finished yet, but for some reason I'm not working on it, I guess it's because we're using it anyway, so there's no hurry in finishing it. So istead of waving in all those ends, I've been making scarves this week, and it's been quite fun!

                                                   Easy, quick and colourful scarves!!

My babette

So after a long time in which this thing wasn't working properly, I'm back! Let me tell you about my babette blanket.
I've wanted to make one of these since the first time I saw them in flickr, but I always thought it was too much work and never was the right moment. But finally about two weeks ago I started crocheting it.
Had to do a bit of planning ahead..

Started with the big squares, the 12 and 10 rounds ones, not sure why, and before I new it I had enough to complete one block!

I kept crocheting like mad and  in about five days I had enough squares to complete two of the four blocks I had originally planned. I laid them on the floor to arrange the colours and I realized it was big enough for a blanket, so, there it was, I had completed my babette squares in less than a week!

I started sewing them together. The boring part of these blankets, but I tried not to think too much about it and just did it. I had all the blocks sewn together in a couple of days

Well, yes, I still have a few ends to hide, hehe!!

I'm making quite a wide border, I want the blanket to look well "framed" if you know what I mean. Still a couple of rounds and it will be done. Mind you, I'm using it already, it's the good part of making blankets, when they're big enough you can enjoy using them when still working on them!

I'll post  better pictures when it's all finished and ready to show. It's hasn't been all that bad at all, it's true that I've been crocheting like mad for a week, but I`ve really enjoyed it. I highly recommend  this project to all crocheteers in the world. Very very rewarding and a great way of using leftovers. I can feel this won't be my only babette. Stay tunned!

Finishing things...

Yes, I finally managed to finish the geometrical scarf...

And added a handle to the hexis bag

                                                                   And I lined it too...

and sewed a zip to the small purse

And added one of my scrap felted balls (if you want to know how I make these,  go here)

And in the middle of all this, I found time to start something new, involving ripples, grannies and sunburst squares. As usual, still don't have a clear idea of the final product, but I'll keep you informed.

Thanks for visiting and see you around!

                                                             :)
