Granny fever

I've been infected by a severe virus last week, the "Granny fever virus". This is the result of that infection.

After seeing a lot of these lately over on Flickr, I just had to make one. Really easy and fast, thanks to the great tutorial you can find here. Thank you so much Michelle for sharing your wonderful ideas!

This is what the hexagons have become, a colourful winter bag. Still have to do the lining and the handle, but you get the idea.

I love how colourful it is, shame I'm not keeping it, a friend saw it and wanted it straight away! It seems I'll have to make another one for myself.

This one I am keeping. It's a purse to carry hankies, lipstick, you know all that stuff women carry around with us!

And these are some granny blocks I'm making, just for the fun of it! I really have a LOT of scrap yarn around!!!

And finally, this is another scarf I'm in the process of making inspired by this. This is the first try, a bit too dark for me, I think I'll have to make another one in brighter colours, maybe some colourful stripes,... we'll see....
that's it for today, thanks for visiting and see you around!

(Un)finished things

Remember the hat I made last sunday? Remember I was making a scarf to match it? Well, I was about to finish it last night and what happened?,

I run out of yarn , damn it!! I hate it when that happens!, I've got tons of yarns in my stash, really do, but not a single thread of the colour I need. Of course, it's all my fault. I should plan these things in advance.

Oh, well, never mind.  In fact, I think this has happened for a reason, so I finally fisnish my SIBOL squares for this month. I've been playing with them for a long time, but always get distracted by something else! So I did finish them.

Just a little peek at them, I don't want to spoil the surprise.

So hopefully tomorrow these will be flying to Mrs Twins', and I'll be getting more yarn to finally finish the scarf and move on to some other project!

Autum is here!!!

And I love it!! I'm so fed up with summer. I can understand people living in cold countries who like soft, sunny nice summers, but here, right  in the middle of Spain, summer is everything but nice to me. It's too hot, too sunny, too dry. I plain and simply hate it. That's why it feels so good to wake up and find it's finally raining!!! It's cool and fresh, and the air feels and smells nice, mmmm I love it!

What have I done this weekend? Well, I`ve been out with friends, visiting the family and crocheting, of course!
I had a special request from a friend, he's always teasing me about my crochet bags, scarfs and so on, and he asked me to make him a hat for winter. I'm sure he didn't expect me to make him one, but I did, in just one day, yesterday I picked my hook and made this:

Quick and easy! He loves it and I love it, so everybody's happy. I'm making a matching scarf too, now, he didnt ask for it, it will be kind of an extra gift and I think it will be the perfect finishing touch, to keep him warm now that autum is finally here!!

Using up some of my left-overs

D'you know there are certain stages in your life when everybody around you seem to be doing the same thing at the same time? Like starting dating, having boyfriend/girlfriend, getting married, etc?  Well, I'm in the stage when all my friends seem to be having babies! And it's great, 'cause I love making baby things. Small, colourful and funny things for them. They're  quick projects, instant gratification.

For this new baby coming in November I've made a scrap blanket. I love working with scraps, you never know how the final product is going to look!

Well, this is the result. I quite like it, hope they (baby and parents) do like it too.

For the edge I just made some rows of sc, one dc and some picots, I think they're so cute!

And while I was at this, I've started making colourful little hexagons I don't know exactly what for, but I'm making them, something will come up!

And that's it for now, thanks for visiting and see you around! :)

why I belong to SIBOL

If you're in the crochet world you surely have come across SIBOL. What is this? It's a fantastic charity project a caring and lovely lady in England started around January this year.  I "met" her via Flickr, admired her gallery and her blog, and then she had this idea of making blankets for the elderly in memory of her beloved granmother. Go to her blog and read the whole story,  it's really worth it.

So why I joined this wonderful project?

Because I love crocheting, in fact, I can't stop doing it, it's an addiction.

Because Sue has found a way of helping others doing what she (and all of us Sibolettes) love.

Because I worked for a while in a Nursing Home, and I know how too often people living there are somehow forgotten.

.Because she's proving that we ordinary people can do things to really change the world.
Maybe just a little corner of the world, but we are doing it. People from everywhere, no matter race, nationality or religion. I belong to that wonderful group and it feels soooo great!!!
For all that, thanks a lot Mrs Twins for starting this and for keeping it up with enthusiasm!

And now, I'd better get hooking or I'll be late for this month's challenges!!

Thanks for visiting and see you around!

So I'm a blogger!!

Hello and welcome to my blog!!
I can't believe I actually have a blog! Don't know exactly what this is all about, well, yes, I read lots of blogs, but I don't know if I have so many things to say. This is a new adventure, and I'll be learning a lot of new things, I'm sure of that.

This will be a blog about crocheting mostly. I've always been interested in all types of crafts, but since I discovered crochet about four years ago, it's become my main obsession, I'm an addict!
So hopefully, I'll try and write now and then something about that. Now don't expect too much about it, I'm a lazy person!
Now keep crocheting and hope to see you around!
